High-throughput Imaging

High-throughput imaging is an automated approach for capturing and analyzing large numbers of images or biological samples efficiently, making it possible to measure cellular and tissue features at scale. In neuroscience, robotic sample handling, rapid microscopy, and computational image analysis can systematically quantify signals such as neuronal morphology, protein localization, synaptic markers, or activity-related fluorescence under controlled experimental conditions. By combining standardized imaging with data pipelines, researchers can compare many treatments, developmental stages, or disease models while reducing manual selection bias and improving reproducibility. The approach supports phenotypic screening, circuit and cell biology studies, and identification of candidate mechanisms or therapeutics.

The combination of iterative-bleaching-extends-multiplexity (IBEX) and a commercial nucleotide labeling assay (Click-iT EdU) enables the detection and categorization of dividing cell types in highly dynamic processes in fixed frozen murine tissue sections. Furthermore, a novel open-source image processing pipeline provides high-throughput image acquisition and analysis.
