Performance Measures Analysis

Performance Measures Analysis is the systematic evaluation of quantified outcomes to determine how well an individual, group, or neural system performs a task. In neuroscience, it involves defining metrics such as accuracy, reaction time, response variability, or error rates, then comparing them across experimental conditions using appropriate statistical methods. Researchers use these measures to link behavior with brain activity, assess learning and cognitive function, and evaluate changes caused by neural injury, disease, or intervention. Careful selection and interpretation of performance measures improves experimental validity and helps distinguish meaningful neural effects from variability in task engagement or measurement.
