Multi-channel Rf Coil

A multi-channel RF coil is an array of independently operated radiofrequency resonators used to transmit and receive signals in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Each channel generates or detects part of the radiofrequency magnetic field, and coordinated control of amplitude and phase shapes the B1 field while enabling parallel signal acquisition. This configuration improves spatial coverage, signal-to-noise ratio, and imaging speed, while supporting techniques such as parallel imaging and parallel transmission. Multi-channel RF coils are therefore important in high-resolution anatomical studies, functional imaging, and advanced MRI system design, where tailored field control can improve image quality and help manage radiofrequency power deposition.

Dielectrophoresis (DEP) is an effective method to manipulate cells. Printed circuit boards (PCB) can provide inexpensive, reusable and effective electrodes for contact-free cell manipulation within microfluidic devices. By combining PDMS-based microfluidic channels with coverslips on PCBs, we demonstrate bead and cell manipulation and separation within multichannel microfluidic devices.

Ion Channels

2019

The movement of ions like sodium, potassium, and calcium into and out of the cell is essential to maintain the electrochemical gradient in living cells. The ion channels—a class of membrane transport proteins—help maintain this ionic gradient for the smooth functioning of physiological activities such as maintaining cell size and volume, conducting nerve impulses, and gas and nutrient exchange. Ion channels are specialized integral membrane proteins on the plasma membrane that allow specific...
