Multiple Allele Traits

Para o mesmo gene, vários alelos podem interagir para influenciar os fenótipos. Como a forma e composição da proteína de células individuais.  <h4>Dominância Incompleta</h4>
 
 A anemia falciforme, causada por uma mutação na codificação genética de beta-globina (HBB), é um exemplo de dominância incompleta. Duas cópias do alelo falciforme são necessárias para a doença, com homozigóticos falciformes a produzirem glóbulos vermelhos rígidos em forma de foice que entopem os vasos sanguíneos. Por outro lado, indivíduos homozigóticos para o alelo normal da beta-globina produzem eritrócitos flexíveis, semelhantes a discos, que viajam facilmente através da vasculatura.

Multiple alleles can shape how a trait is inherited in a population. A gene may have more than two allele forms, even though each person still carries only two alleles for that gene.

These allele combinations can produce traits with more than two possible outcomes. The ABO blood group system is a common example of a multiple allele trait. It shows how different alleles can interact to determine an organism’s phenotype, or observable trait.

Multiple allele traits help explain why inheritance patterns can be more varied than a simple dominant-recessive model. They are an important part of Mendelian genetics and are often used to study how genetic variation appears in real populations.
