Os rolamentos de mancal são usados para fornecer estabilidade lateral a eixos e eixos rotativos.
Considere um guincho de cabo com mancais secos ou parcialmente lubrificados.
A rotação no sentido horário do carretel faz com que o eixo enrole a superfície interna do rolamento até que ele escorregue e sofra rotação estável.
Um diagrama de corpo livre do eixo é desenhado. As forças que atuam no sistema incluem o peso do eixo, o par no sentido horário e a força de reação do rolamento.
A força de reação não colinear é igual e oposta ao peso e atua em um ângulo em relação à superfície normal. Esse ângulo é chamado de ângulo de atrito cinético.
A linha de ação da força de reação é sempre tangente ao círculo de atrito.
A condição de equilíbrio de momento em torno do ponto O produz o momento do eixo.
Para um pequeno ângulo de atrito cinético, o termo senoidal pode ser aproximado da tangente do ângulo de atrito cinético.
Como a tangente do ângulo de atrito cinético é igual ao coeficiente de atrito cinético, obtém-se o momento necessário para superar a resistência ao atrito do rolamento.

Rolamentos de manivela são componentes mecânicos que suportam e fornecem estabilidade lateral a eixos e eixos rotativos. Eles são cruciais para reduzir o atrito, o desgaste e a vibração em máquinas como motores, turbinas e bombas. O princípio por trás dos rolamentos de manivela é formar um filme fino de lubrificante entre a superfície do rolamento e o eixo rotativo, o que minimiza o contato direto e reduz as forças de atrito.

Para entender melhor o conceito de rolamentos de manivela, considere um guincho de cabo com rolamentos de manivela secos ou parcialmente lubrificados, que suportam o eixo rotativo. Conforme o carretel gira no sentido horário, o eixo rola pela superfície interna do rolamento até que ele escorregue e sofra rotação estável.

Um diagrama de corpo livre do eixo pode ser desenhado para analisar as forças atuando no sistema. Essas forças incluem o peso do eixo, atuando verticalmente para baixo, o torque no sentido horário, representando o torque aplicado ao eixo, e a força de reação exercida pelo rolamento no eixo. A força de reação não colinear é igual e oposta ao peso do eixo e atua em um ângulo em relação à normal da superfície. Esse ângulo é chamado de ângulo de atrito cinético. O termo seno na equação pode ser aproximado para a tangente do ângulo de atrito cinético para um ângulo de atrito cinético pequeno.

Journal bearings support rotating shafts and axles while helping keep them stable. They are used in machines such as engines, turbines, and pumps. Their job is to reduce friction, wear, and vibration.

A journal bearing works by keeping a thin film of lubricant between the bearing surface and the rotating shaft. This film limits direct contact and lowers frictional force. The video uses a rope winch with dry or only partly lubricated journal bearings to show the idea.

As the spool turns clockwise, the shaft first rolls up the inner surface of the bearing. It then slips and settles into stable rotation. A free-body diagram of the shaft helps show the forces in the system.

The diagram includes the weight of the shaft, a clockwise couple that represents the applied torque, and the reaction force from the bearing. The reaction force is not collinear with the weight of the shaft. It acts at an angle to the surface normal, and that angle is called the angle of kinetic friction.

The line of action of the reaction force is tangent to the circle of friction. The circle of friction is the set of possible contact points between the shaft and the bearing. By using moment equilibrium about point O, the center of the shaft, the needed shaft moment can be found.

For a small kinetic friction angle, the sine term in the equation can be approximated by the tangent of that angle. Since the tangent of the kinetic friction angle equals the coefficient of kinetic friction, the required moment can be calculated from it. This moment helps describe the bearing’s frictional resistance and its effect on efficiency and performance.
