Pancreatic Transection

Pancreatic transection is a complete or partial division of pancreatic tissue, most often caused by abdominal trauma or occurring as a complication of pancreatic surgery. Its clinical significance depends largely on whether the main pancreatic duct is disrupted, allowing enzyme-rich secretions to escape into surrounding tissues and cause inflammation, fluid collections, or a pancreatic fistula. Evaluation typically combines clinical findings with contrast-enhanced imaging and duct-focused studies, while treatment may involve observation, endoscopic drainage or stenting, surgical repair, or distal pancreatectomy. Accurate assessment of the injury guides management and helps reduce morbidity in patients with complex pancreatic damage.

After spinal transection, adult zebrafish have functional recovery by six weeks post-injury. To take advantage of larval transparency and faster recovery, we present a method for transecting the larval spinal cord. After transection, we observe sensory recovery beginning at 2 days post-injury, and C-bend movement by 3 days post-injury.

Acute Biliary Pancreatitis Model: A Method to Generate Acute Biliary Pancreatitis Mouse Model via Pancreatic Duct Infusion

This video describes the procedure for the generation of a mouse model with acute biliary pancreatitis via pancreatic infusion of sodium taurocholate. This model helps study pathophysiological changes induced by sodium taurocholate in the pancreas.

Laparoscopic Anatomic S7+S8d Resection Preserving Inferior Right Hepatic Vein and S6 with Right Hepatic Vein Transection

We present a laparoscopic technique for anatomic S7+S8d resection with right hepatic vein transection, preserving the inferior right hepatic vein and segment S6. Relying on meticulous anatomical landmarks without intraoperative ultrasound, this approach offers a precise and parenchyma-sparing option for dorsally located right-liver tumors, particularly in settings with limited advanced navigation resources.
