Qualitative Analysis

Качественный анализ — это идентификация элементов, ионов или соединений в неизвестном образце. Это первый из трех типов анализа, основанных на иерархии целей и типе необходимой информации.
Качественный анализ проводится с помощью классических и инструментальных методов.
Классические методы основаны на воспринимаемом результате селективных или специфических химических реакций, идентифицируемых человеческими органами чувств.
Селективные реакции имеют степень предпочтения в отношении аналита по сравнению с другими компонентами в образце. В отличие от этого, специфические реакции происходят только с анализируемым веществом.
Предварительная подготовка образца, такая как осаждение или экстракция, повышает селективность реакции по отношению к анализируемому веществу.
Для сравнения, инструментальные методы измеряют различимое физическое свойство анализируемого вещества. Например, отдельные пики инфракрасного спектра указывают на определенную функциональную группу в образце.

Качественный анализ — это процесс идентификации элементов, ионов или соединений в неизвестном образце. Это первый и наиболее фундаментальный тип анализа, основанный на иерархии аналитических целей. Эта иерархия важна, поскольку она обеспечивает структурированный подход к научным исследованиям, причем качественный анализ служит начальным шагом, предоставляя важную информацию перед переходом к количественным или иным формам анализа.

Существует два основных подхода к качественному анализу: классические и инструментальные методы. Классические методы основаны на наблюдаемых результатах определенных химических реакций, которые можно определить с помощью человеческих чувств (например, зрения или обоняния). Эти реакции являются либо селективными, то есть они отдают предпочтение целевому аналиту по сравнению с другими компонентами, либо специфическими, то есть они реагируют только с аналитом. Qualitative analysis identifies the elements, ions, or compounds in an unknown sample. It is the first step in the hierarchy of analytical goals. That makes it the starting point for scientific study before quantitative analysis or other forms of analysis.

Two main approaches are used in qualitative analysis: classical methods and instrumental methods. Classical methods depend on the visible or sensory result of a chemical reaction, such as a color change, a precipitate, or even a smell. These reactions may be selective, meaning they favor the target analyte, or specific, meaning they react only with that analyte.

Classical analysis may also use preconditioning steps to improve selectivity. Precipitation and extraction are two examples of these steps. In a precipitation reaction, a reagent is added to form a solid precipitate. The precipitate can then be filtered and analyzed further.

Instrumental methods identify a sample by measuring its unique physical properties. Infrared, or IR, spectroscopy is one example. In IR spectroscopy, distinct peaks in a spectrum match specific functional groups, which helps identify compounds in the sample. Together, classical and instrumental methods provide the basic tools used to identify unknown components in scientific samples.
