Carbon Sheet Method

The Carbon Sheet Method is a laboratory sample-preparation technique that uses a thin carbon sheet as a stable support for biological material during analysis. Samples adsorb to the carbon surface, forming a thin, relatively uniform layer that can be preserved, stained, or examined under suitable imaging conditions. In biochemistry, this approach helps investigators study macromolecular assemblies, particulate specimens, and the distribution of biological material while limiting handling-related disruption. Reliable results depend on controlled sample concentration, even coverage, appropriate drying or staining, and a clean support surface, making carbon-sheet preparation an important consideration in structural and analytical workflows.

2024

A balance sheet is a key component of financial statement analysis. It provides a snapshot of a company's financial position at a given time by listing its assets, liabilities, and shareholders' equity. It includes both current and long-lived assets and current and long-term liabilities. Assets reflect what the company owns, such as cash, inventory, and real estate, whereas liabilities represent what the company owes, including debts like loans and accounts payable. Balance sheet analysis is...

The Carbon Cycle

2019

Carbon is the basis of all organic matter on Earth, and is recycled through the ecosystem in two primary processes: one in which carbon is exchanged among living organisms, and one in which carbon is cycled over long periods of time through fossilized organic remains, weathering of rocks, and volcanic activity. Human activities, including increased agricultural practices and the burning of fossil fuels, has greatly affected the balance of the natural carbon cycle. Biological Carbon Cycle All...
