Bipotentiostat

A bipotentiostat is an electrochemical instrument that independently controls the potentials of two working electrodes, enabling simultaneous study of related electrode reactions. It applies separate potentials relative to a shared reference electrode while a counter electrode completes the circuit, allowing the current at each working electrode to be measured as a function of its controlled potential. In chemistry, this configuration supports generator-collector experiments, redox cycling, and investigations of coupled electron-transfer processes, reaction kinetics, and mass transport. By correlating responses from both electrodes, researchers can identify reactive intermediates, assess reaction mechanisms, and improve the analysis of electrochemical sensors and materials.
