Remote Laboratory

A remote laboratory is a system that lets learners and researchers conduct experiments on physical equipment from a distant location, extending laboratory access beyond the facility itself. Through a networked interface, users send commands to instruments or actuators, while sensors, cameras, and data-acquisition systems return measurements and observations in near real time; scheduling and safety controls help manage shared resources. In engineering education and research, remote laboratories support hands-on work with control systems, electronics, robotics, and process equipment, enabling repeated testing, collaboration, and analysis without constant on-site access. They broaden participation while preserving contact with authentic experimental behavior.

Here, we present a protocol to measure, with high spatial resolution, the unsteady surface pressure in turbulent flows. This method demonstrates the construction of a remote microphone probe (RMP) and the determination of its frequency-dependent, complex transfer function. An analytical determination of the dynamic response is presented and validated.
