Anterior Cervical Fusion

Anterior cervical fusion is a spinal surgery that joins adjacent cervical vertebrae to stabilize the neck and relieve symptoms caused by damaged or degenerated spinal structures. Through an approach at the front of the neck, the surgeon may remove a herniated or degenerated disc, decompress affected nerve roots or the spinal cord, and place an interbody spacer containing bone graft; plates and screws can provide additional stability while new bone forms across the segment. The procedure is used for conditions such as cervical disc disease, spinal stenosis, and instability, helping reduce pain, preserve alignment, and improve neurological function.

The process of converting very light nuclei into heavier nuclei is also accompanied by the conversion of mass into large amounts of energy, a process called fusion. The principal source of energy in the sun is a net fusion reaction in which four hydrogen nuclei fuse and ultimately produce one helium nucleus and two positrons. A helium nucleus has a mass that is 0.7% less than that of four hydrogen nuclei; this lost mass is converted into energy during the fusion. This reaction produces about...

The cuff technique shortens and facilitates the model of heterotopic cervical heart transplantation in mice by avoiding technically challenging suture anastomoses of small vessels. The technical details shown in this video paper should allow researches to establish this model in their laboratories.
