Early Onset Ad

Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a form of Alzheimer’s disease that begins before age 65, often during a person’s working or family-building years, making accurate diagnosis and treatment especially important. Its pathology involves abnormal accumulation of amyloid-beta plaques and phosphorylated tau tangles, which disrupt neuronal communication, promote neurodegeneration, and impair memory and cognition. Pharmacological management may include cholinesterase inhibitors or memantine to support neurotransmission and symptom control, while newer disease-modifying therapies target amyloid pathology in selected patients. Studying early-onset AD helps clarify genetic and biological risk factors, improve clinical recognition, and guide individualized therapeutic development.

Cited by 17 •

2017

A protocol for stroke onset time estimation in a rat model of stroke exploiting quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) parameters is described. The procedure exploits diffusion MRI for delineation of the acute stroke lesion and quantitative T1 and T2 (qT1 and qT2) relaxation times for timing of stroke.
