Structural Vibration Simulation

Structural vibration simulation is a physics-based method for predicting how structures respond to dynamic forces, helping researchers and engineers assess stability, performance, and safety before physical testing. It represents a structure through properties such as mass, stiffness, and damping, then solves its equations of motion under conditions including periodic excitation, transient loading, or environmental disturbances to estimate displacement, velocity, stress, and natural frequencies. In physics and engineering research, these simulations support modal analysis, resonance assessment, vibration control, and design optimization for buildings, bridges, vehicles, and mechanical systems, while reducing costly experiments and revealing failure risks that may be difficult to measure directly.

2016

A protocol is presented for the characterization of the in-field pedestrian behavior and the simulation of the resulting structural response. Field-tests demonstrate that the in situ identified pacing rate and synchronization rate among the participants constitute an essential input for the simulation and verification of the human-induced loads.

Vibrating Concrete

2024

Mechanical vibrators are instrumental in compacting newly poured concrete within formwork and around reinforcements. This process is essential to eliminate trapped air pockets and establish a dense concrete mass. One widely used method is vibrating by internal vibrators, often referred to as a poker vibrator or immersion vibrator. It is rapidly inserted through the full depth of the freshly laid concrete and slightly extends into the layer below it (which remains in a plastic state). Consistent...
