Force

We have studied the motion of objects earlier. What causes objects to move?
When a &#39;push&#39;&#160;or a &#39;pull&#39;&#160;is applied to it by another object, it moves. Such an interaction between objects or between an object and its surrounding is called a force.
To determine the force, we need to know how strong&#160;and in what direction&#160;it acts. Hence, force is a vector quantity and is expressed in units of newtons.
For example, the gravitational force directed towards the Earth&#39;s center makes fruits fall on the ground.
When more than one force acts on an object, their combined effect is the same as a single force equal to the vector sum of individual forces. This principle is referred to as the superposition principle of forces.
Conversely, any&#160;force acting on an object can be resolved&#160;into its horizontal and vertical force components.

Forces affect every moment of our life. Our bodies are held to the Earth by force, and they are held together by the forces of charged particles. When we open a door, walk down a street, lift a fork, or touch a baby&#39;s face, we are applying force. Our body&#39;s atoms are held together by electrical forces, and the core of an atom, called the nucleus, is held together by the strongest force known to us&#8212;nuclear force.
The study of motion is called kinematics, but kinematics only describes the way objects move&#8212;their velocity and their acceleration. Dynamics is the study of how forces affect the motion of objects and systems. It considers the cause of the motion of objects and systems of interest, where a system is anything being analyzed. To understand this, we need a working definition of force. An intuitive definition of force&#8212;that is, a push or a pull&#8212;is a good place to start. We know that a push or a pull has both magnitude and direction (therefore, force is a vector quantity). Thus, we can define force as the push or pull on an object with a specific magnitude and direction. Force can be represented by vectors or expressed as a multiple of a standard force.
The SI unit of force is called the newton (abbreviated N), and 1 N is the force needed to accelerate an object with a mass of 1 kg at a rate of 1 m/s2: 1 N = 1 kg&#183;m/s2.

Force is a push or pull that acts on an object. It has both magnitude and direction, so force is a vector quantity. In everyday life, force appears when we open a door, walk down a street, lift a fork, or touch a baby's face.

Forces also shape matter at the smallest scales. The atoms in our bodies are held together by electrical forces. The nucleus of an atom is held together by nuclear force, which is the strongest force known to us.

The study of motion is called kinematics. Kinematics describes how objects move, including their velocity and acceleration. Dynamics is different because it studies how forces affect the motion of objects and systems. A system is anything being analyzed.

To work with force in physics, we use vectors or compare it with a standard force. The SI unit of force is the newton, written as N. One newton is the force needed to accelerate a 1 kg object at 1 m/s², so 1 N = 1 kg·m/s².
