Description

The urinary bladder is a hollow, muscular sac that stores urine before it leaves the body. It can hold about 600 mL of urine before micturition, or urination. The bladder sits behind the pubic symphysis in the pelvic floor and is retroperitoneal, meaning it lies behind the lining of the abdominal cavity.
