Percents and decimals are two ways to show parts of a whole in everyday situations.

A percent means "out of one hundred." For example, 25 percent means 25 out of 100.

Imagine a student who scored 80 percent on their report card. That means the student earned 80 out of every 100 points. We can convert this percent into a decimal.
