Slope describes how a graph changes from one point to another. It helps explain how one quantity increases or decreases in relation to another.

You are riding your bike up a hill. If the hill rises quickly over a short distance, it feels steep. If it rises slowly over a long distance, it feels gentle.

This idea of steepness can be shown mathematically on a graph; we call this steepness the slope.

For example, suppose you move from the point (1, 2) to the point (3, 6).
