Noncompartmental analysis is an alternative method for describing drug pharmacokinetics without assigning a particular compartmental model to the drug.
The noncompartmental approach assumes the drug's pharmacokinetics to be linear, with the terminal phase being log-linear.
The drug exposure increases proportionally with increasing dose, while pharmacokinetics parameters remain stable over time.
Another important assumption is that the drug is eliminated from the body strictly from the measured pool, such as the plasma.
Also, all the drug sources are direct and unique to the measured pool.
For conducting noncompartmental analysis, at least twelve different concentration-time points should be associated with a single-dose administration.
Notably, fewer data points may result in inaccurate estimations of the pharmacokinetic parameters.
