Lidia Bandura obtained her MSc. In Chemistry from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (2011) and received her PhD in Technical Sciences in the field of Environmental Engineering at the Lublin University of Technology in Lublin (2016). Currently, she works as an Assistant Professor at the Lublin University of Technology. Her research focus on zeolite synthesis and modifications, porous materials characterization, environmental pollutants removal, adsorption processes in environmental engineering, and waste materials utilization.
Zeolites have garnered much attention in scientific research due to their widespread applications in agriculture and environmental protection owing to their unique properties like high adsorption capacity and ion exchange properties. In agriculture, studies mainly concentrate on using zeolites as valuable soil conditioners, additives to fertilizer with slow-release, adsorbents of mycotoxin, and upgrading biogas to biomethane. Numerous studies reveal their great potential as efficient adsorbents of different pollutants, thereby playing a vital role in environmental protection.
The use of zeolites for agriculture purposes and removal of toxic elements and compounds from water, air, and soil and their applications in agriculture production has been studied for several years. However, the full potential of zeolite materials is yet to be explored.
Therefore, this collection aims to assemble original methods of zeolites acquiring, processing, synthesis, and innovative ways of their modifications and applications. Overall, this collection brings together articles that visually demonstrate state-of-the-art achievements in the field of zeolites usage in the important branches of the modern economy – agriculture and environmental protection.
