Dr. Andromeda Nauli is an Associate Professor at Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU) College of Pharmacy. Prior to joining MBKU, he served as a faculty member at California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP), East Tennessee State University (ETSU) College of Public Health, and ETSU College of Medicine. He received his PhD degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2005 and subsequently did his postdoctoral fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI).  Dr. Nauli is interested in studying the sex differences in dietary fat absorption and how these differences may affect abdominal visceral fat accumulation. Dr. Nauli has served as a reviewer and editor for several reputable journals. Throughout his academic career, he has trained more than 20 students in research. Some of his students have now become physicians, pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, physicists, and engineers.

Collection Overview

The advancement of science often depends on its available study models, methods, and/or technologies. There are several models and methods that have been used to study dietary fat absorption, including but not limited to lymph fistula, fecal analysis, everted gut sac, fetal gut, Caco-2 cells, IPEC cells, enteroids, and gut-on-a-chip. The protocols involved in these models and methods are often challenging and may contain unique modifications. The purpose of this method's collection is to share these diverse protocols in the form of video articles with the scientific community. Our ultimate goal is to gain a better understanding of how the digestion and absorption of dietary lipids by the small intestine affects metabolism, cardiovascular health, and abdominal visceral fat accumulation.
