Collection Overview

Diabetes is one of the most challenging health concerns facing society, made worse by the rising incidence of obesity. There is an urgent need to further our understanding of diabetes and its complications to develop improved treatment and target remission. Animal disease models play a critical role in exploring pathogenesis, disease progression, and complication development. More recently, organoid technology is also playing a role in furthering knowledge in this expanding field of research. This Methods Collection aims to provide detailed protocols for the study of diabetes development, glucose homeostasis, and complications in mice and humans, in vivo or in other 3D contexts recapitulating physiological conditions.

We welcome the submission of protocols that include, but are not limited to:

  • Experimental models of disease induction
  • Examination methods for the measurement of metabolic or cardiovascular derangements
  • Methods of analysis and cultivation of tissues
  • Staining and preparation protocols for metabolic tissues
  • Organoid research
