Rodrigo Araldi
Federal University of São Paulo and Federal University of São Paulo, Federal University of Latin American Integration and Cellavita Pesquisas Científicas Ltda.
Dr. Rodrigo Araldi has a degree in Biology from the São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil). He completed his Master and Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil) and a post-doc trainee in Cancer Molecular Biology at Paulista School of Medicine from São Paulo Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP, Brazil). He has more than 16 years of experience with cancer biology and genetics, with emphasis on cancer metastasis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Dr. Araldi has served as a Professor of oncogenetic and innovative technologies for cancer treatment at São Paulo Federal University (UNIFESP) and the Federal University of Latin American Integration. He has also served as Chief of Science and Innovation in the Cellavita Pesquisas Científicas, a Brazilian novel venture dedicated to developing disruptive technologies for neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Currently, his efforts are focused on studying the role of exosomes in cancer metastasis, as well as to biotechnologically explore these extracellular vesicles for cancer treatment (cell-free therapy).

Despite recent advances in oncology, the management and treatment of metastatic cancer remains challenging. However, recent advances in cancer-derived exosome biology have brought new perspectives to further understand the metastatic process and to explore these nanosized vesicles as novel therapeutic agents for the treatment of metastatic cancer.
Cancer-derived exosomes deliver a slew of biomolecules that can either act paracrinally within the tumor microenvironment, inducing tumor immune evasion and regulating the formation of disseminating cancer stem cells, or act at a distance, preparing the pre-metastatic niche for engraftment of disseminated cancer cells. These vesicles can also be used to deliver chemotherapeutics to cancer cells. As a result, it is essential to develop new methods for isolating exosomes and studying their biological content and function in metastasis.
For this reason, this collection will cover the following methods:
