Minimally invasive foregut surgery includes techniques for treating diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines that have demonstrated consistent lower morbidity and faster patient recovery times. These approaches include techniques for treating a wide array of diseases, including esophageal disease, esophageal and gastric cancer, reflux, gastroparesis, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Current minimally invasive procedures include laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic surgery. This collection will include protocols and videos for fundoplication, anti-reflux surgery, bariatric surgery, and resection for malignancy. The purpose of this Methods Collection is to demonstrate standardized protocols and procedures for performing safe foregut surgery on patients and share innovative procedures and techniques. Our secondary goal is to demonstrate foregut surgery in animal models to study the physiology and pathophysiology of foregut diseases.
