Dr. Magnus Paul K is an assistant professor in the Department of Animal Reproduction, Gynecology, and Obstetrics at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Mannuthy, Thrissur, Kerala, India. His research focuses on the biotechnological elements of animal reproduction. The biotechnological aspects of animal reproduction are the focus of his research. His most recent research concentrates on the molecular processes that lead to canine uterine inertia. When uterine inertia and its pathophysiology were examined, it was shown that MLCK4, MYH2, and PKC genes mediated pathways played a major role. The in vitro production of embryos and strategies for improving the effectiveness of the in vitro embryo production system are the main areas of interest for his current research. He joined Kerala Agricultural University in 2011 as an Assistant Professor of animal reproduction before moving on to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. His PhD research on canine uterine inertia looked into the pathophysiology of this condition from a molecular, Ultrasonographic, and endocrinologic perspective.

Collection Overview

Advances in animal reproductive biotechnology have made it possible to detect, modify, and treat numerous pathological problems related to the reproductive system in both large and small animals. Aspects of in vitro and in vivo embryo production, genetic testing, and genetic modifications at the embryo level are emerging fields where disease prevention and production enhancement are possible.

Multiple techniques, including whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and expression analysis, can quickly identify genetic conditions connected to both production and disease. Enhancing cattle production capacity and promoting wild animal conservation can be achieved through techniques like multiple ovulation embryo transfer and in vitro embryogenesis. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryonic stem cell isolation, cloning, and transgenic animal technologies offer numerous prospects for biomedical research.

This Methods Collection will provide detailed information on various aspects of animal embryo bioengineering. It also aims to provide information on how various tissues are processed to produce data for next-generation sequencing as well as validate it. The topics discussed address cloning, genetic modification of animals, and transgenic animal production methods.
