Lipids are critical regulators of the endothelial barrier function. Accumulation of excess lipids or altered lipid signaling can trigger both the development and resolution of endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and chronic inflammatory diseases.
In this Methods Collection, we invite submissions detailing current tools, strategies, or techniques used to characterize the role of lipids and their signaling in altered endothelial barrier homeostasis. This includes vascular and lymphatic inflammation, permeability, as well as cell toxicity and apoptosis. We are also interested in strategies that help understand how endothelial cells regulate the metabolism, internalization, processing, and transport of lipoproteins into the subendothelial space.
