Collection Overview

PRP therapy has become popular in regenerative medicine, orthopedics, and sports medicine, as it accelerates healing and reduces inflammation. It is derived from autologous blood and contains a high concentration of platelets, which release growth factors critical for tissue repair. Despite its benefits, inconsistent outcomes due to non-standardized protocols highlight the need for a unified approach.

The primary challenges are variable preparation techniques, platelet concentrations, and application methods, leading to varied therapeutic outcomes. This variability complicates the assessment of PRP’s efficacy. Current strategies to mitigate these challenges involve optimizing centrifugation protocols, identifying ideal platelet concentrations, and developing specialized delivery systems. However, a consensus is still lacking.

This Methods Collection aims to standardize PRP therapy protocols across various clinical applications. By bringing together leading experts in the field, it seeks to establish evidence-based guidelines for PRP preparation, application, and evaluation. The collection will include protocols tailored to specific conditions, such as tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, and muscle regeneration, as well as advanced imaging techniques for monitoring treatment outcomes.

This collection will serve as a comprehensive resource for researchers and clinicians, providing standardized methodologies that can be widely adopted to ensure consistent and reproducible results. Addressing the current challenges in PRP therapy will facilitate more rigorous research, improve clinical outcomes, and ultimately advance the field of regenerative medicine. It will also help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, making PRP therapy more accessible and effective.
