Cyanobacteria and microalgae represent a promising avenue for sustainable bioproduct development. Through photosynthesis, they convert CO2 and sunlight into valuable bioproducts, including biopolymers, pigments, and biomass. Studies have underscored their potential as alternatives to fossil-based resources. However, practical implementation requires overcoming challenges in optimizing cultivation and downstream processing, where existing strategies often struggle with low product yields and complex extraction procedures.
This collection aims to provide accessible and practical protocols for synthesizing, extracting, and quantifying bioproducts from cyanobacteria and microalgae, focusing on laboratory and pilot-scale setups. Researchers and industry professionals are invited to contribute with methods, including, but not limited to, the identification of promising strains, optimized cultivation processes, and standardized extraction and quantification techniques.
By compiling state-of-the-art methodologies, this collection will function as a key resource for the scientific community to accelerate the development of sustainable bioproducts.
