Department of Prosthodontics, Gazi University

Dr. Pinar Cevik holds a PhD in prosthodontics and is a tenured professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Türkiye. She previously served as a visiting scientist and research scholar at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry for over a year, with her research supported by TÜBİTAK. Dr. Cevik also holds an adjunct scientist position at the John M. Powers Center for Biomaterials & Biomimetics (PCBB) in Houston, USA.She has led multiple national and international projects as principal investigator, including those funded by ITI (International Team for Implantology), TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye), and Gazi University. Her research interests include digital implantology, prosthodontics, and maxillofacial prosthodontics, particularly immediate rehabilitation in complete-arch, implant-supported treatments.Dr. Cevik has presented extensively at national and international scientific congresses and remains actively involved in research, publications, clinical practice, and teaching at the university and student clinics.

Collection Overview

Restorative science and prosthodontics stand at the forefront of modern dentistry, integrating material innovation, digital technologies, and clinical expertise to restore oral function and aesthetics. As patient expectations rise and treatment paradigms shift toward minimally invasive, durable, and biologically compatible solutions, this field continues to expand its influence on comprehensive oral health care.

Despite impressive progress, challenges persist in optimizing the performance and longevity of restorative materials, ensuring the predictability of adhesive and bonding systems, and translating laboratory findings into reliable chairside applications. A critical focus remains on balancing cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and accessibility with advanced technologies such as CAD/CAM systems, additive manufacturing, and regenerative approaches.

This collection aims to capture the breadth of current developments in restorative science and prosthodontics while addressing these ongoing challenges. It invites high-quality submissions, including research articles, method articles, review articles, and well-documented case reports illuminating emerging concepts and evidence-based practices. Contributions may explore novel biomaterials, implant-supported and maxillofacial rehabilitations, digital workflows, regenerative strategies, or interdisciplinary treatments for complex oral conditions.

By uniting scientific inquiry with clinical expertise, this collection will provide an essential resource for researchers, clinicians, and educators striving to enhance the predictability, durability, and aesthetics of restorative and prosthodontic care.
