Dr. Andrzej W. Cwetsch holds a PhD in Neuroscience and Brain Technologies. He leads the Neural Adhesion Group, which focuses on the roles of protocadherins (Pcdhs) in several key processes, including cortex and hippocampus development, activation of adult neural stem cells, and regulation of the neuronal cell cycle.

Collection Overview

Animal models serve as indispensable tools for investigating the ethology of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and schizophrenia. Standardization of the methodologies used for model generation and validation is essential for achieving high reproducibility. From genetic manipulations and bioinformatic analyses to histological assessments, electrophysiological recordings, behavioral characterization, and therapeutic interventions, each stage contributes to elucidating the complex mechanisms underlying these disorders.

Our aim is to assemble a comprehensive collection that supports the standardization of widely used techniques across the various stages of animal model development and validation. This collection is intended to provide practical guidelines to facilitate rigorous and consistent experimental procedures and results, ultimately advancing our understanding of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric diseases.
