Dr. Veronika Aleksandrovych is a physician-scientist at the Department of Pathophysiology, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Cracow (Poland). Her specializations include obstetrics and gynecology. She obtained her PhD in medical sciences in 2019 at Jagiellonian University, and her studies described the role of Interstitial Cajal-like cells (telocytes) in the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids. These newly re-opened cells have depicted unique features and have been presented in a variety of organs in human and animal bodies. Dr. Aleksandrovych has focused on fibrosis, angiogenesis, and innervation in the context of female infertility. During her scientific work, she has also provided various techniques on animal models (rats), such as immunohistochemical staining and microscopic image analysis. A medical and biological educational background allows her to analyze a clinical problem in a non-trivial way, while also planning her research. The current scientific activity of Dr. Aleksandrovych is connected with the pathomechanisms of fibrosis development in the uterus, oviduct, ureter, and heart, accompanied by deep analysis of tissue architecture and cellular content.
