Dr. Joseph M. Chambers completed his PhD at the University of Notre Dame in Dr. Rebecca Wingert’s lab. During this time his research focused on using the zebrafish model organism to study the molecular mechanisms of kidney development. Further, additional research at the University of Notre Dame focused on broadening the reach of using the zebrafish to model human diseases including kidney disease and ciliopathies.
Currently an Assistant Professor at Manchester University College of Pharmacy, Health and Natural Sciences, Dr. Chambers has focused his research on better understanding the role genes play in response to pharmaceuticals (Pharmacogenomics). This includes further research into organ formation and function using a variety of techniques including chemical genetics, CRISPR/Cas9, and various gene expression analyses, among others.
