Dr. Beata Greb-Markiewicz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology in the Faculty of Chemistry at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Wroclaw, Poland). Her research interest is focused on the family of bHLH transcription factors, with a special interest in bHLH-PAS proteins. She is interested in proteins intrinsic disorder, protein-protein interactions, liquid-liquid phase separation, protein localization, and signal transduction.
Dr. Greb-Markiewicz prepared her PhD thesis titled “Searching for factors engaged in infection and intoxication process of the insect by entomopathogenic fungi from Zoophthora and Paecilomyces genera” in the Laboratory of Ecological Chemistry in the Wroclaw University of Technology. She did her post-graduate research in “Management of research project and commercialization of research results” at the Wroclaw University of Technology.
Dr. Greb-Markiewicz carried out her two-year post-doctoral research at the Ulm University at The Institute of General Zoology and Endocrinology (Ulm, Germany) and a short research training at the Institutionen för Växtvetenskap Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Alnarp, Sweden) and the Istituto per la Chimica di Molecole di Interesse Biologico (Napoli, Italy). She was also a guest scientist at the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics with the Susanne Eaton group (Dresden, Germany). She is a publishing author and reviewer for various internationally recognized journals. She has participated in well-known international conferences organized by EMBL and FEBS, and courses organized by EMBL and Pasteur Institute.
In addition to her research, Beata is passionate about art. She is a classically trained violinist performing concerts with maritime folk music groups.
