Dmitry Kireev is a Research Associate at the University of Texas at Austin. He is a part of the Microelectronic Research Center and the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, working on wearable applications of 2D materials, field-effect biosensing, and advanced neural implants. Dmitry was awarded a PhD in 2017 at the Institute of Bioelectronics (ICS-8) of Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany), with work on graphene-based devices for neuroprosthesis, interaction with neuronal cells, and general bioelectronics. Dmitry is a recipient of a prestigious EMM-NANO scholarship and performed his MSc study at KU Leuven (Belgium) and Chalmers University (Sweden) with majors in nanoelectronics. Prior to finding his way into bioelectronics, Dmitry completed his BSc (2010) and MSc (2012) at Moscow’s National Research University of Electronic Technology in the department of quantum physics and nanoelectronics.

Dr. Kireev’s current work aims to bridge together the cross-disciplinary topics of two-dimensional (2D) materials science, physics, engineering, biology, and electronics. Currently, his research seeks to apply 2D materials like graphene, MoS2, and others in the fields of bioelectronics, neuroprosthesis, and epidermal electronics.
