Dr. Bruno Pereira is a Project Leader at i3S (Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto, Portugal) in the Differentiation and Cancer group. After a graduation in Biology (2006), he obtained his PhD in Biomedicine (2013) from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto studying cellular differentiation processes associated with carcinogenesis. His research activities are now focused on the role of post-transcriptional regulation mediated by RNA-binding protein networks in intestinal stem cell identity and function, both in homeostasis and cancer. To that end, he his employing a comprehensive approach combining human tissues, transgenic mouse models and intestinal organoid and tumoroid cultures as physiologically relevant study models.
