Dr. Croft completed her PhD degree at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. She held a post-doctoral position at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, where she studied selenium biology and metabolism, redox regulation of protein function and selenoprotein translation. In 2012, Laura joined the Cancer and Ageing Research Program at Queensland University of Technology. Laura’s research focuses on targeting DNA repair proteins using oligonucleotides and translating basic research into cancer therapeutics. In 2019 Laura was awarded the Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowship to continue the development of a lead oligonucleotide through toxicology studies and towards first-in-human trials. Laura is a member of the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society (OTS) and is actively involved in science education at community events.
