Dr. Tobili Sam-Yellowe is a Professor of Immunology and Parasitology at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. Her lab focuses on investigating the proteome of rhoptries among Plasmodium species and immunity to rhoptry proteins of Plasmodium species. These studies are aimed at identifying rhoptry proteins with as potential vaccine candidates and for diagnostics in immunosensors. Her lab also investigated the thermal behaviour and signature patterns of human cytokines and their receptors using dielectric thermal analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry in order to identify cytokine markers in severe and uncomplicated malaria. Trafficking of the Maurer’s cleft protein PfMC-2TM and the cell biology of Colpodella sp. are other areas of investigation in her lab. Dr. Sam-Yellowe teaches Immunology and Parasitology and recently authored the Immunology textbook and lab manual, Immunology: Overview and Laboratory Manual (Springer).
