Dr. Mingwen Bai is a materials scientist with 10+ years experience on high temperature materials for power generation (aerospace gas turbines, biomass-fired power plant and nuclear reactors) and surface protection of metallic components against environmental degradation (e.g., oxidation, corrosion, and wear). He received his BEng in Materials Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2011, and his PhD in Materials from the University of Manchester in 2015. He is currently working at the Coventry University as an Assistant Professor in Materials, Mechanics, and Measurement since 2020.

His research is focused on the development of innovative electron microscopy approaches (SEM/FIB/TEM) allowing detailed understanding of the relationship between microstructure, phase, composition, and performance of materials. He has published 40+ peer reviewed journal papers with 800+ citations (Google scholar, h-index: 15, i10-index: 20) in journals, e.g., Corrosion Science, Materials & Design, Acta Materialia, and Nature Communication, etc
