Dr. Guizhen Zhao received her BS in Basic Science from Peking University in 2014. She earned her PhD in Physiology from Peking University in 2018. Her PhD studies focused on elucidating the molecular mechanism underlying vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotypic modulation and its contribution to abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).  She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Internal Medicine at University of Michigan Medical Center working in the laboratory of Dr. Eugene Chen. There her research focuses on using the animal models to investigate the underlying mechanisms of vascular biological and metabolic regulations driven by epigenetic modulations in cardiovascular diseases, such as aortic aneurysm and atherosclerosis.
