Dr. Sébastien Gillotin is currently a Senior Scientist and a Team Leader at MSD. Sébastien obtains his PhD in Biochemistry at Imperial College, London during which he investigated gene regulation in p53-mediated apoptosis. For his post-doctoral studies, he centred his interest for transcriptional regulation on neurogenesis. First, by investigating how to improve the reprogramming efficiency of cortical astrocytes into neurons using the pro-neural factors Ascl1 and Neurog2 and second, by scrutinising the role of Ascl1 post-translational modifications in forward neuronal differentiation of stem cells. Currently, Sébastien leads internal and external projects to identify novel therapeutic strategies for tackling diseases of ageing in the CNS.
