Dr. Torres is an expert in the field of the gut microbiota and bioactive compounds, such as peptides and polyphenols. She did her PhD at the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), Spain (2008-2012), and was a Postdoc in the APC Microbiome Institute, Cork, Ireland (2012-2017) as well as in UC Davis, California, USA (2017-2018), where she investigated gut microbiota and its role in obesity and colitis. Currently, she is a visiting lecturer at the Tarragona University (URV), Spain where she also studies the interaction of the intestinal microbiota with biological rhythms and the activity of bioactive compounds in metabolic syndrome.
