Dr. Surya D. Aggarwal is a post-doctoral fellow working with Dr. Jeffrey Weiser in the Department of Microbiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding population structures of Streptococcus pneumoniae during nasopharyngeal colonization and disease. He completed his PhD with Dr. Luisa Hiller at Carnegie Mellon University focusing on molecular mechanisms responsible for S. pneumoniae adaptation to different environmental conditions and stresses. Prior to that, he received his Masters degree from Univesity of Edinburgh, UK and Bachelors degree from Amity University, India.
