José Teixeira graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in Portugal (2009) and obtained the MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Porto in Portugal (2011) and is completing his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. José Teixeira is a Junior PhD Researcher in the MitoXT – Mitochondrial Toxicology and Experimental Therapeutics group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), University of Coimbra (UC), Portugal. Dr. Teixeira research interests are focused on the role of mitochondria in oxidative stress-related pathologies and in the development and evaluation of the potential biological effects of mitochondria-targeted antioxidants based on naturally dietary scaffolds as a therapeutic solution. Particularly in debilitating diseases that have little or no effective treatments with an unmet need for efficient therapeutics, notably Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
