Dr. Lahari Das is a microbiologist having more than 10 years of experience in Mycobacterium tuberculosis research. She currently works as a postdoctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. William. R. Jacobs Jr. at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City. Her research in Dr. Jacobs’ lab involves developing novel TB vaccine using herpes virus vaccine vector. She is also working on genetically engineering M. leprae to make a stable fluorescent reporter strain and facilitate the growth of leprosy bacilli on artificial media. These efforts when successful, would revolutionize the field of leprosy research and make leprosy vaccine studies easier.
