Dr. Mato Lagator is an independent research fellow (Assistant Professor level) at the University of Manchester. He received his BA in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University and completed his PhD from the University of Warwick. Under the supervision of Dr. Paul Neve and Dr. Nick Colegrave, he used experimental evolution to study the effects of different pesticide application strategies on resistance evolution using a single-cell alga, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, as a model system. He spent 5 years as a postdoc at the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) in Austria, where he worked in the groups of Prof. Calin Guet and Dr. Jonathan Bollback to study the relationship between molecular mechanisms and microbial evolution.
