Dr. Yaramothu obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2017. His work included creating instrumentation that integrated virtual reality headset-based eye-tracking with functional near-infrared spectroscopy and stereotactic systems. Over the past decade, Dr. Yaramothu has been developing various diagnostic and rehabilitative instruments and methods for typically occurring and post-concussive binocular dysfunctions. An essential tool utilized in all his research involves multiple methods of eye-tracking. In addition to performing fundamental research, he concentrates on translating basic research into clinical applications for rapid, objective binocular vision and concussion diagnosis. One of these efforts led him to cofound the eye-tracking based health technology startup OculoMotor Technologies. Dr. Yaramothu has received numerous accolades, including being named a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, New Jersey Digi-Tech Innovator of 2020 by NJBiz Magazine, and was part of the team that was awarded the Most Innovate Breakthrough at the Auggie Awards (the “Oscars” of VR/XR) in 2018.
