Dr. Saravanan Subramaniam is a young vascular biology investigator highly interested in blood coagulation and vascular biology in health and disease conditions, such as influenza, SARS-CoV-2. Dr. Saravanan Subramaniam has over ten years of experience with in vivo and in vitro thrombosis and hemostasis models (human cells, mouse, and zebrafish in vivo models). He is one of the experts in imaging as an approach to visually characterize the behavior of immune and non-immune cells as well as thrombus resolution during venous thrombus development. Dr. Subramaniam completed Doctoral research at the University of Giessen, Germany, and he focused on various thrombosis models to characterize the Role of Factor -VII activating protease. During his postdoctoral positions (at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH-Mainz), Germany; at the McAllister Heart Institute, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, USA; at Versiti-Blood Research Institute, Milwaukee, USA) executed various in vivo and in vitro thrombosis models to characterized different genetically knockout mice. Currently, Dr. Subramaniam is employed at the Pulmonary Center, School of Medicine, Boston University. His current research works focus on the role of platelets/endothelial cells in COVID-19-associated coagulopathy and immunothrombosis.
