Dr. Puja Khaitan is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who has been in academic practice since 2013. As the Director of Esophageal Surgery at her current institution, she is actively involved in outcomes research and studies of patients undergoing complex foregut and esophageal surgeries, including complex reconstruction. Her research is focused on improving long-term patient outcomes with the goal of individualizing treatment and re-establishing GI continuity with an improved quality of life. As a surgeon, I like to think of innovative ideas on how to optimize esophageal function so that patients can resume oral intake.
