Dr. Eden is a post-doctoral research associate at the University of York working with Prof. Jeremy Mottram. He obtained his BSc in Biology and his MSc in Sciences with emphasis on Cell Biology and Parasitology. In 2016 he obtained his PhD degree at the Federal University of Sao Paulo working at Prof. Renato Mortara´s lab, investigating the role of host-cell cytoskeleton associated proteins during invasion of extracellular amastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi. From the year 2017 to 2021 he worked as post-doctoral research fellow funded by The Sao Paulo Research Foundation investigating how trypomastigotes of T. cruzi manages its escape from the host cell. During this period, he spent 12 months at Prof. Kevin Tyler’s lab – University of East Anglia (Norwich – UK) as a visiting researcher funded by the Sao Paulo Research Foundation for an abroad internship. Currently, he is working on the Wellcome trust funded grant – LeishGEM. His primary focus is the subcellular localization of proteins from Leishmania mexicana. In addition, he is also working with genetic modified cell lines for the identification of molecules important for the interaction of Leishmania parasite with its host.
