Dr. Travis Salzillo is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Salzillo is a current NIH TL1 fellow. His research focuses on applications of MRI in radiation oncology with an emphasis on hardware, software, and pulse sequence development for MR Linac devices. Throughout his PhD, Dr. Salzillo investigated metabolic changes of preclinical glioblastoma models throughout tumor development and regression and relapse following radiotherapy using methods such as in vivo, hyperpolarized magnetic resonance spectroscopy, ex vivo nuclear magnetic resonance, and ex vivo immunohistochemistry. Dr. Salzillo is a practical science communicator, having authored over 20 manuscripts and received numerous presentation, research, and manuscript awards, including the 2020-2021 Aaron Blanchard Award for Best Dissertation in Medical Physics from his graduate program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Following his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Salzillo will begin his residency in radiation physics at MD Anderson Cancer Center to finalize his training as a board-certified medical physicist and independent investigator.
