Dr. Suiwen Hou’s laboratory is mainly engaged in the mechanism of stomatal development of the dicotyledonous model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, the monocotyledonous Gramineae rice and maize. In addition, his group is also focused on the function of plant protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), and gene editing for crop breeding in recent years. He has been working in the School of Life Sciences at Lanzhou University since 1997 and was a visiting scholar in the laboratory of Dr. Alex Webb in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Cambridge in 2002. He received his PhD from Lanzhou University in 2004 and was appointed as a Professor of cell biology at Lanzhou University in 2009.
